To the punks, Reagan was the antithesis of their left political views. Particularly with his escalation of the Cold War, the punks were moved to rally against him. In the summer of 1983, they hosted a Rock against Reagan rally on the national mall.
This song by Scream expresses Punk's feelings about the dangers of weapon escalation with lyrics like "It came from beyond, when they dropped the bomb...it came without warning." With Rock against Reagan and lyrics like these the punks were beginning to take a stance against the established power in the city and express their political views more publically.
